Domestic flights started operating from the new Terminal 2 of Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati on 22 February 2026. The new building raises the airport's yearly passenger capacity to 13.1 million.

Five domestic airlines have shifted to the new terminal. They are SpiceJet, Alliance Air, Air India Express, Air India and Akasa Air. IndiGo and all international flights are still operating from Terminal 1 and will move to Terminal 2 in phases.

Faster checks

The terminal has DigiYatra-enabled e-gates, self-bag drop counters, full-body scanners and an automated baggage handling system. Check-in facilities have been added at the parking area, and the arrival forecourt has been made larger.

The design draws on local themes. The interiors are inspired by bamboo, the columns follow an orchid theme and some patterns are based on the traditional Assamese japi. An arrival area called the Sky Forest has more than one lakh native plants. The terminal was developed by Adani Airport Holdings Limited.
