Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on 15 June 2026 launched the online portal for the TRACTION 2026 Residency and Film Challenge at the Civil Secretariat in Itanagar. The project uses digital storytelling to promote tourism, culture and small businesses in the state.
Industries and Commerce Commissioner Amjad Tak said 25 young content creators from the eight Northeastern states will be selected. They will attend a 15-day residency at Rajiv Gandhi University from 7 to 21 August 2026. Each participant must make a five-minute film and record their residency experience.
The top two entries will receive Rs 1 lakh each, along with trophies and citations. Selected films will be shared on the state government's official social media pages. The challenge is backed by the Union Ministry of MSME under the RAMP scheme, and is being run with the state Industries Department, the Centre for Cultural Research and Documentation and Rajiv Gandhi University.
Industries Minister Nyato Dukam said the effort links creativity with economic growth by showing local food, crafts and places. Officials gave handmade paper from Dirang as an example of a heritage product that needs wider online reach.
